Hitchhiking series
After graduating from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, with a BFA in Art & Design, I embarked on a three month hitchhiking adventure throughout Europe. The Hitchhiking Series are 22” x 30” and 30” x 40” mixed medium drawings on paper.
On returning home, I continued to take modern dance classes in Manhattan. This inspired me to incorporate dance movement into my work. In this drawing to the left, I wanted to express the feeling of action and flight against an empty highway.
jagged fences
The Jagged Fences series was inspired by the No Nukes rallies of the 1980’s. After a trip up the Hudson River to attend a Clearwater Music Festival, I painted the Indian Point 4 ft. x 4 ft. to the left and the A Hudson Valley tryptch 4 ft. x 12 ft., in oil paint, wax and pieces of glued canvas.
Large landscape
In 1987, I was awarded a three month Artist-In-Residency Award from the Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock, NY. During the residency, I began working on a series of four large 5 ft. x 7 ft. canvases. The paintings were directly inspired by the landscape of the Catskill Mountain region of New York State. On my travels to the school, I would drive along the back roads passing the farm fields and views of the mountains.
To the left is one of four oil paintings on canvas, 5 ft. x 7 ft., displayed in the windows at Macy’s Herald Square, 34th Street windows, NYC.
Large Landscape
In 1999, the painting In Praise of All Things, was chosen for a two year group exhibition at the ambassadorial residency in Sarajevo, Bosnia through the Art & Embassy program, Washington, DC.

waterfalls
I came back to the Catskill Mountains in early the 1990’s after two years residing in Colorado. I continued to paint the landscape, focusing on the waterways and waterfalls of the region.

warhorse/warrior series iii
It was during the Kosovo War of 1999 that I began painting the ‘Warhorse/Warrior Series III’. My paintings tell an illustrated story of the wounded warrior coming home from battle in the dark ages and enter into the promise of the 21st Century. In his travels, the Warhorse/Warrior continues along a path towards healing and spiritual growth.

New England rock series
In 2002, I graduated from a two year certificate program in Natural Science Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI. Upon graduating, I would spend my free time painting along the ocean, many times sitting low to the ground or on the rocks in order to observe the waves. I found myself also observing the array of colorful life forms attached to the rocks at low tide. For months I sat among the rocks doing watercolor, oil or acrylic studies in order to work on a series of seven 4 ft. x 4 ft mixed medium on panel and several 2 ft. x 2 ft. mixed medium on panel.

Tidal Pool series
After two solo exhibitions at the Audubon Society called ‘Water’s Edge’, I began to work on a series of smaller panels that would become the ‘Tidal Pool Series’. As before, I would sit on a rock with my feet submerged in the water so that I could look down at the smaller details within the tidal pools at low tide. On this extended theme, I began to focus more on the way the sunlight played up the water’s surface and the movement of the water and how these factors effected the way the objects appeared below.

florida clusters series
In 2012, I wintered on the coast of Florida. Each afternoon, I would sit on the beach for a quick watercolor study of shells and other sea life. These studies helped to create the series of paintings called the ‘Florida Clusters’.
